We're Growing. Meet Altera.

Over the last year, the Atlanta International AI Film Festival has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined. What started as a festival became a community, a learning space, a space for experimentation, and a hub for people working at the edge of storytelling and technology.

Because of that growth, we’re stepping into a name that reflects who we’re becoming.

AIAIFF is evolving into Altera Festival.

Altera comes from the Latin word alter which means “other,” “another,” or “to change.” It’s about transformation, creative evolution, and choosing a new path. That’s what this community represents, not escaping the old system, but altering it. Not replacing traditional storytelling, but expanding what’s possible when human creativity and emerging technology meet.

Our tagline moving forward is simple: Altering the future of storytelling.

We’re not changing our mission. We’re expanding the container.

The festival stays.

The workshops stay.

The meetups stay.

The creative labs stay.

But the vision gets bigger.

Altera gives us room to grow into what’s already happening here: a creative innovation ecosystem that supports filmmakers, technologists, founders, educators, and anyone building the next era of storytelling. A space where alternative perspectives and new worlds can take shape. A home for emerging tools like AI, XR, spatial, and whatever comes next.

This isn’t a rebrand for the sake of a new name (although its easier to say than AIAIFF). It’s an evolution that better reflects the work we’re doing and the world we’re stepping into.

This is a soft announcement so more details are coming soon! Thank you to everyone who has shaped this community. You’re the reason Altera exists.

Let’s keep building what comes next.
